Sonowal emphasises on fast execution of NLCPR projects in Assam

Guwahati, May 22 (IBNS): Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal reviewed the projects under Non Lapsable Central Pool of Resources for the State at a meeting with the Secretary of DONER Naveen Verma at his office in Janata Bhawan on Monday.

It may be mentioned that Sonowal held the discussion concerning nine projects that have already been sanctioned and another three projects which were approved and at the final stage of being sanctioned.

Reiterating his commitment to expeditiously implementing the projects for the overall development of the state, Sonowal said that, there must be renewed focus on implementing the projects and the rate of their completion must be impressive for fast development of the State.
     
The discussions in the meeting veered on the specifics of the execution of schemes under the NLCPR Fund administered by the Ministry of DoNER.

Sonowal also took stock of the issues like constraints faced in the execution of the schemes.
          
Nine projects with a total project cost to the tune of Rs 147.15 crore are under different stages of implementation.

These projects are construction of RCC Bridge on Mancotta Khamtighat road along with approaches in Dibrugarh District, construction of indoor stadium at Dongkamokam under Hamren Sub-Division, construction of road from NH 31 to Kashimpur Suplekuchi via Purbabharti, construction of alternative road to Kamakhya Temple at Guwahati from Pandu, construction of Karmachari Bhawan at Panjabari Guwahati, construction of Digheeripar Bordoulguri Borachuba road in Darrang District, construction of road from Subhaijhar to Uttar Ballamguri at Bijni in Chirang District, construction of Railway Over bridge in Barpeta Road, Udalguri Sapekhaity Bhakatpara Road in Udalguri.
          
Besides three more projects namely construction of Multi Disciplinary Sports Complex at Khanikar in Dibrugarh district, construction of N.L. Daulagupu Sports Stadium with three storied RCC Dormitory Building at Haflong in Dima Hasao and construction of Railway Over bridge at Jorhat Town were discussed as the Chief Minister vowed to take up the matter in right earnest for their early sanction.
       
In the meeting Sonowal also asked Chairperson of Inland Waterways Authority of India Nutan Guha Biswas to streamline the last minute preparations along with all the line departments for carrying out dredging in the Brahmaputra so that the river can be used adequately and effective as National Waterway-2 for trade and commerce with the neighbouring countries.
      

Chief Secretary VK Pipersenia, Addititonal Chief Secretary KV Eapen, Principal Secretary Sanjay Lohiya were also present at the meeting.
