Entertainment world mourns Chuck Berry's death

Toronto, Mar 20 (IBNS): Chuck Berry, a guitarist and songwriter, recognised as one of the fathers of rock 'n' roll, who died at age 90 on Saturday in his home in Missouri, U.S. was deeply mourned by musicians and entertainers, CBCNews reports said.

Many took to social media to offer condolences and to remember his life and work.

Musician Lenny Kravitz on Instagram hailed Berry as a forefather of rock 'n' roll, saying, "None of us would have been here without you."

Nikki Sixx of Mötley Crüe & Sixx:A.M., author of 2 NY times best sellers, photographer & hosts the Sixx Sense radio show tweeted that the music genre "wouldn't be what it came to be" without Berry, while Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash said on Instagram Johnny B. Goode singer was "undisputedly the king."

Bruce Springsteen, an American singer-songwriter and famous for his brand of poetic lyrics said in one of his posts on the facebook, “Chuck Berry was rock's greatest practitioner, guitarist, and the greatest pure rock 'n' roll writer who ever lived. This is a tremendous loss of a giant for the ages.”

The Rolling Stones, an English rock band who had recorded Berry in the past were greatly influenced by Berry.

The Rolling Stones singer Mick Jagger in a series of posts on the face book thanked Berry "for all the inspirational music he gave to us."

"Chuck, you were amazing, and your music is engraved inside us forever," said Jagger.

Keith Richards, an English guitarist, singer, songwriter, and founding member of The Rolling Stones tweeted, "One of my big lights has gone out.”

Lenny Kravitz, an American singer, songwriter, record producer, and actor tweeted,“Hail Hail Chuck Berry!!! None of us would have been here without you. Rock on brother!”

Ringo Starr. an English musician, singer, songwriter and actor tweeted,

“Just let me hear some of that rock 'n' roll music any old way you use it I am playing I'm talking about you. God bless Chuck Berry Chuck.”

British actor Connor McIntyre picked out a lyric from School Day, “ding ding goes the bell' Chuck ..... RIP #RIP#chuckberry.”

Country singer Keith Urban tweeted, “ RIP Chuck Berry !!!! Thank you for the poetry, the passion and the potency! GO JOHNNY GO. – KU”

Charlie Daniels, an American actor, lyricist, and singer, tweeted, " The greatest rock and roll lyricist ever has passed away at 90 Chuck Berry rest in peace.”

Rudolf Schenker, a German guitarist tweeted, “One of my heroes, a true icon, a legend just left the building. You was the definition of Rock'n'Roll. I salute you! #rip #chuckberry”.
