Earth Hour: UN joins iconic landmarks ‘going dark’ globally with a call to protect environment

New York, Mar 25 (JEN): The United Nations this evening turned off the lights at its iconic Headquarters in New York as well as at other facilities around the world in observance of “Earth Hour” – a global event highlighting the need for climate action and sustainable energy consumption.

Toronto, Mar 25 (IBNS): The Earth Hour was celebrated all over the world for last 10 years with the intention of drawing attention to climate change and showing everybody’s efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, media reports said.

India joins the world to observe Earth Hour on Saturday

New Delhi, Mar 25 (IBNS): On Saturday, nearly all countries, including India, will be switching off their non-essential lights for an hour, from 8.30 pm to 9.30 pm, local time, in support of people's commitment towards energy conservation, proper utilisation of energy sources and awareness about climate change.
