Fort Lauderdale Airport shooting: 5 killed

Washington, Jan 7 (IBNS): At least five people were killed when a gunman opened fire at the Fort Lauderdale, Florida, international airport on Friday, media reports said.

The incident left eight others injured.

The suspect has been identified as Esteban Santiago.

He has been taken into custody.

President elect Donald Trump tweeted: "Monitoring the terrible situation in Florida. Just spoke to Governor Scott. Thoughts and prayers for all. Stay safe!"

The Broward Sheriff's Office said all injured taken to BHMC & Memorial Regional.

Law enforcement sources told CNN that the suspect had declared the firearm.
