An IAF Sukhoi-30 aircraft on routine mission goes missing along China border

Guwahati, May 23 (IBNS) : A Sukhoi 30 MKI aircraft of the Indian Air Force on Tuesday lost radio contact and went off the radar after the aircraft had taken off from Assam's Tezpur Salnibari Air Force station.

According to the reports, two pilots who were onboard the aircraft are also missing.


A top official of Indian Air Force said that the aircraft was on a routine mission. It went missing at around 11 am on Tuesday near Doulasang area in Arunachal Pradesh near India's  border with China.


The Russia-made fighter jet had lost radio and radar contact after takeoff, around 60 kms from Tezpur.


Meanwhile, Indian Air Force and the army have jointly launched operations to trace the missing aircraft and two pilots.
