New Delhi, Feb 18 (IBNS): The Supreme Court on Monday said Tamil Nadu's sterlite copper plant, which was closed by the state government after protest over alleged pollution, will continue to remain shut, media reports said.

The Tamil Nadu government had approached the top court against the National Green Tribunal's order allowing the reopening of the plant, which is situated in Tuticorin.

The apex court said the tribunal has no jurisdiction to entertain the case. It said the tribunal can approach the Madras High Court.

In May last year, the violent protest against the plant left 13 people dead.
