TTD urges Centre to declare Tirumala temple a no-fly zone to preserve sanctity

Tirumala (Andhra Pradesh): Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Chairman BR Naidu has written to Union Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu, requesting that Andhra Pradesh’s revered Tirumala temple be declared a no-fly zone, media reports said.

In his letter, Naidu emphasised that the sanctity of the Tirumala shrine, also known as the Venkateshwara Temple, must be preserved in line with Agama Shastra principles, which govern temple construction and worship rituals in Hinduism, reported India Today.

He also highlighted concerns over low-flying planes, helicopters, and other aerial activities disrupting the sacred atmosphere around the Srivari temple.

"The Tirumala temple holds immense spiritual value for millions of devotees who visit the shrine every year. According to traditional Agama regulations, the sanctity of the temple is paramount, and any disturbance in its vicinity, including aerial movements, are believed to adversely affect the spiritual environment," Naidu stated in his letter.

Declaring the area a no-fly zone, he argued, would prevent unauthorised aerial activities near the temple, ensuring that the peace and devotion of pilgrims remain undisturbed.

Urging the Union Minister to take swift action, Naidu stressed that protecting the Tirumala temple’s sanctity was essential to preserving its cultural and spiritual heritage.
