Bulandshahr, Oct 27 (IBNS): The Uttar Pradesh police on Thursday arrested the man who shot inspector Subodh Kumar Singh during the mob violence over cow slaughter in Uttar Pradesh's Bulandshahr.

The accused, identified as Prashant Natt, was arrested from the Bulandshahr-Noida border on Thursday afternoon.

According to police, he has confessed to have shoot Singh.

"Prashant Natt has accepted that he shot inspector Subodh Singh. We are interrogating him and expecting more facts about the incident to emerge," NDTV quoted Prabhakar Chaudhary, Senior Superintendent of Police, Bulandshahr, as saying.

Besides Natt, police have also identified the man who snatched the service revolver from Singh.

The accused has been reportedly identified as Johnny, who is also a resident of Bulandshahr.

However, the names of both Prashant Natt and Johnny were not lodged in the FIR filed after Subodh Kumar Singh was killed.

They were, however, seen together in videos of the violence.

Following the video footage, the police traced them.

Earlier, the police named Bajrang Dal leader Yogesh Raj as the prime accused. He was arrested as well.

Raj, in a video released earlier had said that he was not involved in the stone-pelting and firing incident over cow slaughter that took place at Bulandshahr’s Chingrawati police chowki.

The riots led to the death of a civilian Sumit and a police inspector Subodh Kumar.

Even an Indian Army personnel named Jeetu Fauji, who belonged to a unit of the Rashtriya Rifles based in Kashmir, has also been taken into custody on suspicion of killing Singh.
