5G spectrum: Trai extends last date for submission of discussion papers

New Delhi/IBNS: The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) has extended the deadlines for stakeholder comments and counter comments on two crucial discussion paers following requests from stakeholders.

 

The first paper corresponds to setting base prices of spectrum bands earmarked for 5G services and the second paper relate to ways to simplify the approvals processes for companies operating in the telecoms and broadcast segments.

For the first paper, the new deadline has been set for January 10 and January 24, 2022, respectively for the 5G spectrum bands paper.

January 19 and February 2 have been set the new deadlines for comments and counter-comments respectively.

The earlier deadlines were by December 28 and January 11 for the 5G spectrum bands paper and January 5 and January 19.

In ate November, Trai started the process of choosing the reserve prices of 10 spectrum bands earmarked by the government for 5G services.

These include the 600 Mhz and the millimeter wave (mmWave) bands, proposed to be auctioned around April-May next year.
