Cabinet approves road projects in J&K

New Delhi, Jan 21 (IBNS): The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Wednesday approved road projects in north Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Cabinet has given its approval for 'development of the four laning of the Ramban-Banihal section of National Highway – 1A (now NH-44) in Jammu & Kashmir. This work will be under the National Highways Development Project (NHDP) Phase-II. The approval is in Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) mode'.

"The cost is estimated to be Rs. 1623.98 crore including the cost of land acquisition, resettlement and rehabilitation and other pre-construction activities. The total length of the road will be approximately 32.10 kms," read a government statement.

The Cabinet also gave its approval for the development of the four laning of the Udhampur-Ramban section of National Highway – 1A (now NH-44) in Jammu & Kashmir (J&K).

"The cost is estimated to be Rs. 1758.68 crore including cost of land acquisition, resettlement and rehabilitation and other pre-construction activities. The total length of the road will be approximately 40.07kms," read a government statement.
