In Alappuzha, which is 158 km from the state capital of Thiruvanthapuram, a senior citizen died while queuing up outside the State Bank of Travancore .

He reportedly waited for 45 minutes.

In Thalassery, 300 km away from Alappuzha, a 48-year-old man identified as Unni died after falling off the second floor of the building where his bank was located.

An employee with the state's electricity department, Unni had deposited Rs. 4 lakh on Thursday.

The police is looking at whether his death was an accident or a suicide.

Long queues in front of banks were also witnessed in Kerala.

Utter chaos was reported even on Friday as people tried to change the Rs. 500 and Rs. 1,000 currency notes, which were declared invalid by PM Modi on Tuesday night.
