Mumbai/UNI:  Two-wheeler major, Hero MotoCorp sold 183,044 units of two-wheelers in the month of May 2021 which is 62.44 per cent more than sales of 1,12,682 units in May 2020 and 50.83 per cent less than 372,285 units sold in April 2021.

Hero MotoCorp says sales in May 2021 were adversely impacted due to the closure of plant operations in view of the escalation in the spread of the Coronavirus in the country.

The company proactively halted operations at all of its manufacturing facilities across the country on April 22. Three of the plants - located in Gurugram, Haridwar and Dharuhera - resumed single-shift operations on May 17, followed by the other three located in Neemrana, Halol and Chittoor on May 24.

Hero despatched 178,076 motorcycles and 4,338 scooters in May 2021 which is a growth of 68 per cent and a decrease of 34.71 per cent respectively over May 2020.

The company sold a total of 159,561 units domestically in May 2021 which is 46.59 per cent more than 108,848 units sold in May 2020.

Exports stood at 23,483 units for May 2021 which is a growth of 512.49 per cent over 3,834 units exported in May 2020.

The company has launched innovative digital tools in sales and after-sales to enhance customer experience and ensure a safe environment for both employees and customers.

All corporate offices of the company are in Work from Home (WFH) mode and a very small number of colleagues are allowed in offices on rotation basis for the continuity of essential services.
