Mumbai, July 02 (IBNS) IDBI on Tuesday marked a major milestone, having completed 50 years of its journey in nation building.

On this momentous occasion, taking its banking service to the next level, IDBI Bank introduced mobile banking service for its customers.

This facility, which is accessible from any mobile device, enables the customer to meet all banking needs such as fund transfer, bill payments, visa money transfer, DTH/ Mobile recharge and much more from any destination.

Supporting its commitment to strengthening presence across the length and breadth of the country, IDBI Bank also opened 50 new branches Pan-India through e-inauguration by  M. S. Raghavan, Chairman and Managing Director, IDBI Bank.

With the opening of these new branches, IDBI Bank will augment its presence with 1467 branches, 2535 ATMs spread across 1046 geographical locations of the country.

Founded on 1st July 1964 through an Act of Parliament, IDBI- the Development Financial Institution (DFI) played the role of mentor during the pre-reform era (1964-91) in catalysing broad-based industrial development and creation of financial institutions in the country for financing corporates and MSEs.

For four decades, IDBI has been a frontrunner in nation building with particular emphasis on industry, infrastructure, backward area development, nurturing of 1st generation entrepreneurs, promotion of export oriented units  and creation of legendary capital market institutions. The institution was later transformed into a bank in October 2004 and has since been making strides to provide commercial banking services while continuing its thrust on development banking through industrial and infrastructure financing.

Raghavan said, ‘IDBI Bank, today though only 10 years old as a commercial Bank, is actually 50 years young with the rich legacy of IDBI, the DFI. These 50 years have been a wonderful journey for us and this celebration of golden jubilee would not have been possible without the trust, support and well wishes of our stakeholders."

He added, "On this momentous occasion, I, on behalf of IDBI bank promise to uphold our commitment towards inclusive growth and fulfilling every banking need of every customer. We draw strength from our relationship with our customers and seek their support in all our endeavors."
