Indian benchmark indices close higher on Wednesday

Mumbai, Aug 16 (IBNS): The Indian market ended higher on Wednesday, with BSE Sensex up 321.86 points at 31770.89 and NSENifty up 103.15 points at 9897.30.

On Wednesday, Coal India reported that its consolidated profit for the June quarter declined 23 per cent to Rs 2,351 crore owing to higher costs while it had posted a gain of Rs 3,065.2 crore in the same period last year.

On Wednesday, top gainers included Tata Motors, Tech Mahindra, Cipla, Bank of Baroda, ITC, HUL, Tata Power and Bhel while NTPC, Asian Paints, Coal India, Yes Bank, Lupin, Power Grid Copr, Infosys and ONGC declined.
