Indian Market: Sensex spurts 650.98 points

Mumbai/UNI: The BSE Sensex on Monday rallied further by 650.98 points, breaching 60,000 at 60,395.63 points, on the strength of capital goods, realty, bankex and finance stocks.

The Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) too rose by 190.60 points at 18,003.30.

The equity market remained in the green throughout the session as it opened high at 60,070.39, up 326 points.

During the day, it spurted 683 points at 60,427.36, the day's high, before closing at 60,395.63, advancing 650.98 points from its previous close.

The Sensex registered the day's high and low at 60,427.36 and 59,987.18 respectively.

The Nifty recorded the day's high and low at 18,017.45 and 17,879.15 respectively.

Sectoral indices like capital goods, realty, bankex, auto and finance stocks kept the market firm for another session.

In scrips, Titan was a major gainer, up by 3.12 per cent to Rs 2,653 followed by SBI by 2.71 per cent to Rs 504.60, Maruti Suzuki by 2.50 per cent to Rs 8,105.20, L&T by 2.46 per cent to Rs 1,951.55 and Kotak Bank by 2.44 per cent to Rs 1,950.

The losers were Wipro by 2.24 per cent to Rs 695.30, Nestle India by 1.17 per cent to Rs 19,690.10, Asian Paints by 0.76 per cent to Rs 3,547.65, Hind Unilever by 0.47 per cent to Rs 2,405.20 and Sun Pharma by 0.46 per cent to Rs 825.

The Mid Cap rose by 0.69 per cent and Small Cap by 1.19 per cent.

In 30 scrips, 21 advanced while 9 declined.

The Asian market was also seen positive. Hang Seng gained more than a per cent. Straits Times was up 0.7 per cent.

Similarly, Shanghai Composite and Taiwan too moved up by 0.4 per cent each. Kospi, fell by one per cent.
