IndiGo wins Airbus “Best Operational Excellence Award” Globally

| | May 18, 2017, at 05:05 pm
New Delhi, May 17 (IBNS): IndiGo, India’s largest and fastest growing carrier, has been awarded the coveted award for ‘Best Operational Excellence’ by Airbus for the second consecutive time at a worldwide level, outperforming 46 airlines of international repute. IndiGo’s consistence performance in effective utilization of its Airbus A320 aircraft and maintenance of top-notch dispatch reliability has bagged the company this recognition amongst established global carriers at the A320 Family Symposium.

The selection criteria for the award is based on data covering two years of operation and taking into consideration the number of aircraft in the fleet, daily utilization rate, technical reliability and the number of delays caused due to flights for operational reasons.

With the largest fleet of 134 aircraft in India, IndiGo takes pride in being the frontrunners in operating single-aisle A320s and A320neo fleet in India. In 2011, IndiGo became the first Indian operator to commit to the environment-friendly A320neo bringing a total of 280 Airbus aircraft.

While commenting on the prestigious global award, IndiGo’s President and Whole Time Director Aditya Ghosh said, “It is a great honour to be the recipient of the coveted “Best Operational Excellence” awards that not only recognize but also reward a few A320 Family operators who have excellent aircraft utilization, in terms of flight cycles and flight hours, combined with excellent Operational Reliability and Delay duration. To be recognized for the second consecutive time after Kuala Lumpur in 2014, it is a proud moment to be receiving the award again for being a large A320 Family operator globally.”

“The fact that these are not jury awards but based on a collection of operational data is a testament to the hard work that thousands of my colleagues put in every day in a tough business and an even tougher environment. I am delighted that IndiGo is being recognized in the global arena and I dedicate this award to every member of the IndiGo family whose commitment to excellence and consistent determination to be better each day has put India on the world stage. It is once more an extremely proud moment for me as an Indian to see an Indian carrier being adjudged as the world’s best!”
