Kone sends 1,000 employees to the field to study people flow

Kolkata, Oct 30 (IBNS): Leading elevator & escalator company Kone celebrated its annual People Flow Day on Thursday.
During the day, approximately 1,000 Kone employees in close to 30 countries around the world will act as researchers and visit more than 100 sites to get closer to customers and elevator and escalator users.

In India we have 39 sites across the country and 250 employees on field on Friday, who are set to study what makes an elevator or escalator ride a smooth, safe and functional experience.

Customers and elevator and escalator users are at the core of Kone’s research and development (R&D) process.

Via this ethnographic study, KONE gains a deeper understanding of customer needs and the user experience in practice.

The researchers-for-a-day observe people’s movements and use of equipment in different types of buildings, and interview customers. The valuable data obtained during the event is passed on to KONE’s R&D teams, who use it to develop new solutions.

”Quality is a high priority area at KONE and we believe that each and every employee needs to take ownership of the same. This year’s People Flow Day, themed on Quality, is very important and I am proud that we have so many employees participating in the same. This shows the committment and passion each of them have in wanting to understand Quality better. We will be covering 17 residential, 3 hotel, 3 medical, 8 office, 7 retail sites and 1 special building tomorrow,” said Neeraj Sharma, Executive Vice President, Asia Pacific & Middle East.
