Rajnath Singh chairs HLC on Central assistance to states

New Delhi, Nov 9 (IBNS) Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh chaired a meeting of the High Level Committee (HLC) here on Monday for central assistance to states affected by drought and flood.

The Union Minister for Finance, Corporate Affairs and Information & Broadcasting, Arun Jaitley, Vice-Chairman NITI Aayog Arvind Panagariya, the Union Minister of State for Agriculture, Sanjeev Kumar Balyan, Agriculture Secretary Siraj Hussain and senior officers of the Ministries of Home, Finance and Agriculture attended the meeting.

The Committee examined the proposals based on the report of the Central Team which visited the affected states by severe Natural Disasters.

The HLC approved the assistance from the National Disaster Relief Fund (NDRF) in respect of Karnataka to the tune of Rs 1540 crore and for Gujarat an amount of Rs 562 crore regarding the losses caused by drought and flood respectively.
