Sensex advances 92.47 points

The BSE Sensex on Wednesday gained further by 92.47 pts to close high at 66,023.24 as renewed buying was seen in Power, Consumer Durable, Auto and Health Care stocks.

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) rose 28.45 points at 19,811.85.

Despite volatility, the Sensex ended positive only, as the Sensex opened lower at 65,839.62, falling 91 points. Later, it dropped nearly 276 points to 65,664 days low.

In late trade, it erased earlier losses and ended at 66,023.24, rising 92.47 points from its previous close.

In stocks, Power was a major gainer, up by 1.41 pc followed by Auto by 0.64 pc, Health Care by 0.54 pc and Consumer Durable by 0.47 pc.

The gainers were Infosys by 1.22 pc to 1457, NTPC by 1.14 pc to Rs 252.70, Powergrid by 1.10 pc to Rs 211.20, Titan by 0.94 pc to Rs 3426.20, and ITC by 0.38 pc to Rs 439.90.

The losers were IndusInd Bank by 2.07 pc to Rs 1471, Kotak Bank by 1.16 pc to Rs 1746.50, JSW Steel by 1 pc to Rs 767.80, and M&M by 0.91 pc to Rs 1545.80.

The midcap rose by 0.33 pc while Small cap fell by 0.63 pc.

In 30 scrips, 19 advanced while 11 declined.
