Sensex falls by over 200 points

Mumbai/UNI: The BSE Sensex Monday slipped 234.79 points at 54,247.05 as selling was seen in IT, Telecom and Technology stocks.

The Nifty too declined 63.50 points at 16,157.10.

The Sensex registered days high and low at 54,291.97 and 54,090.53 points respectively.

The Nifty registered days high and low at 16,175.45 and 16,115.50 points respectively.

The Mid Cap rose by 0.14 per cent and Small Cap by 0.44 per cent.

In 30 scrips, 17 advanced while 13 declined.

The losers were Bharti Airtel by 4.37 per cent to Rs 664.85, TCS by 4.34 per cent to Rs 3123, HCL Technology by 2.92 per cent to Rs 955, Infosys by 2.56 per cent to Rs 1475.20 and Tech Mahindra by 2.51 per cent to Rs 1000.45.

The gainers were M & M by 2.34 per cent to Rs 1159.10, Dr Reddy's Lab by 2.27 per cent to Rs 4503.60, NTPC by 1.43 per cent to Rs 145.55 and Titan by 1.21 per cent to Rs 2169.75.
