Sensex hits fresh record at 65,157.73 points

Mumbai/UNI: The BSE Sensex on Monday touched the 65K level for the first time at 65,157.73, surging 439.17 pts in the opening session as buying was seen across the board amid strong global cues.

The Nifty too rose 129.85 pts at 19,318.90.

All sectoral indices were in the green, especially Metal, Bankex and Financial Services were up more than one per cent.

The Mid-cap moved up 0.32 pc and Small-cap by 0.66 pc.

In 30 scrips, 17 advanced while 13 declined.

The gainers were HDFC by 3.05 pc to Rs 2907.65, HDFC Bank by 2.54 pc to Rs 1745, Ultrasemco by 1.82 pc to Rs 8443.90, SBI by 1 pc to Rs 578.55 and ICICI Bank by 1 pc to Rs 943.65.

The losers were Powergrid by 0.82 pc to Rs 253, Maruti Suzuki by 0.80 pc to Rs 9708.85, Tech Mahindra by 0.71 pc to Rs 1122.50 and Sun Pharma by 0.58 c to Rs 1045.25.
