SpiceJet reaches settlement agreement with aircraft lessor Nordic Aviation Capital

Mumbai: SpiceJet has reached a settlement agreement with Nordic Aviation Capital (NAC), a prominent lessor of its Q400 aircraft, ANI reported.

According to a statement by the airline, the agreement resolves all previous obligations related to the Q400s leased by NAC to SpiceJet, said the report.

Currently, SpiceJet operates five Q400 aircraft leased from NAC, the report said.

The airline will also be reintroducing three more Q400 aircraft from NAC into its fleet, as stated in the announcement.

"These three planes had been repossessed by the lessor. The induction of the three planes in addition to the fleet revival and restoration program launched by the airline would result in a substantial addition of planes in the SpiceJet fleet in the coming weeks," the statement said.

SpiceJet, which was launched in May 2005, operates around 250 daily flights to 48 destinations within India and internationally.

The airline's fleet consists of various aircraft types, including Boeing 737 Max, Boeing 700, and Q400s.
