Subhash Chandra Garg named new finance secretary

New Delhi, Mar 8 (UNI): Department of economic affairs secretary Subhash Chandra Garg was appointed new finance secretary, the government announced on Friday.

"The appointments committee of the cabinet has approved designating Subhash Chandra Garg, IAS (RJ:1983), secretary, department of economics affairs, ministry of finance as finance secretary," a government order said here.

The 58-year-old Garg would replace Ajay Narayan Jha, who got superannuated on February 28.

Garg has been working as the secretary in the department of economic affairs since June 2017.
