Tata Power's Quality Circle teams win 'Gold' award at International Convention on Quality Control Circles

Mumbai/ Kolkata, Sept 7 (IBNS): Tata Power on Wednesday announced that the company's Quality Circle teams from Tata Power-DDL, Trombay and Khopoli have been honoured with the prestigious Gold Award at International Convention on Quality Control Circles (ICQCC-2016).

Organised by the Association of QC at Bangkok, Thailand, the Tata Power teams won the award basis their submission of projects on Quality Control.

Around 350 teams from 12 nations had participated in the convention which included several Public Enterprises, Semi-Government and Private organisations from the countries like India, Japan, Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, China, Thailand, Indonesia, South Korea, Taiwan and Sri Lanka. 

The Trombay Quality Circle (QC) team "Kasturi" submitted their project on ‘Difficulties in transportation of Dredging material- utilisation of dredge silt in civil works’, whereas Khopoli QC team "Avishkar" submitted on ‘More time required for replacement of electronic governor panel (Cycle time reduction)’.

Speaking on the achievement, Anil Sardana, CEO & Managing Director, Tata Power said, “Tata Power constantly endeavours to enhance its efficiency and establish quality benchmarks to ensure constant improvement and innovation across its operations. Our quality control teams have been contributing to the organisational goals through good projects over the years. This is a proud moment for us to receive this prestigious award for our teams."

"We appreciate the outstanding efforts put in by the quality control teams and encourage them to keep up with good work. We hope that the achievement of these three teams and many more such activities will create value for our customers,” said he.

A Quality Control (QC) Circle is a group consisting of front-line employees who continually control and improve the quality of their work, products and services.

The objective of International Convention on Quality Control Circles (ICQCC-2016) is to provide an opportunity for the quality experts, practitioners and enthusiasts from all over the world together and share their knowledge, experiences, and exchange ideas of successful practices on global quality management.
