Telecom spectrum auction: Rs.1,05,000 crore commitment reached

New Delhi, Mar 20 (IBNS) At the end of the 15th day of radio frequency spectrum e-auctions, a commitment of over Rs.1,05,000 crore has been received from telecom operators, officials said on Friday.

"The Auction of Spectrum in 2100 MHz, 1800 MHz, 900 MHz and 800 MHz Bands re- commenced today at 09.00 A.M. and today 6 rounds of bidding were completed. Till now, 92 rounds of bidding has taken place," read a government statement.

"The bidding is taking place in all bands. Brisk bidding was seen on 15th day of bidding, with activity requirement set at 100%. There is robust bidding going on in 1800 MHz, 900 MHz and 800 MHz bands. At the end of 92nd round, about 88% of the spectrum has been provisionally allocated to bidders," it said.

"The provisional amount committed by bidders at the end of 92nd round is over Rs.1,05,000 Crore. Majority of service areas are going at a premium over reserve price. The competitive bidding is expected to continue. There is still spectrum, which is yet to be sold. Bidding would recommence tomorrow i.e. 21-03-2015 at 9AM," read the statement.
