China's COVID-19 outbreak: Shanghai plans to launch new round of nucleic acid testing

Shanghai: Shanghai city in China, which is witnessing a massive rise in COVID-19 cases, will launch a new round of nucleic acid testing across the city starting from 5 am on Monday, local authorities told Xinhua on Sunday.

From 5 am March 28 to 5 am April 1, temporary closed-off management will be enforced in regions lying to the east and south of the Huangpu River, including Pudong and its adjacent areas, to carry out nucleic acid testing, according to the city's COVID-19 prevention and control office, Xinhua news agency reported.

Then from 3 am on April 1 to 3 am on April 5, similar temporary closed-off management and testing will be launched mainly in urban districts west of the Huangpu River, the news agency reported.

China has been battling a severe COVID-19 outbreak for the past several weeks.
