Guwahati, Jun 28 (IBNS): Fresh floods hit four more districts of Assam as the situation in Lakhimpur district became worse.

The flood waters of the Khingora river has wreaked havoc at Naoboicha area in Lakhimpur district and inundated more areas and washed away several houses, shops, and a  part of the river embankment.

Thousands of people have been affected in Lakhimpur district in the fresh wave floods due to torrential rains in Arunachal Pradesh.

On Thursday, flood waters submerged the National Highway 15 disrupting road connectivity between Assam and a huge part of Arunachal Pradesh.

Apart from Lakhimpur district, flood waters have submerged few areas in Dhemaji, Charaideo and Biswanath district.

According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), fresh floods have claimed three more lives in Charaideo, Cachar and Karimganj districts taking the toll in the flood and landslides to 31.

A total of 144 villages of seven districts have been affected in the current wave of flood.

Meanwhile, the water levels of Brahmaputra river and its tributaries have increased following incessant rains in few parts of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.
