India reports biggest single-day spike in Covid-19 cases with over 45,000 infections

New Delhi/IBNS: India on Thursday reported the biggest single-day spike in Novel Coronavirus cases as 45,720 people across the country of 1.3 billion people were infected with the contagion in the last 24 hours.

The Covid-19 tally of the country touched 12,38,635.

The Covid toll has reached 29,861 as 1,129 deaths were reported between Wednesday and Thursday mornings.

Maharashtra, where the country's financial capital Mumbai is located, still tops the Covid tally as 3,37,607 people in the western state have been infected with the deadly virus.

With the massive spike in Covid cases across the country, various states have reimposed lockdown.

West Bengal, which is now reporting over 2,000 cases on a daily basis, has announced lockdown on any two days of a week.

The eastern state will remain under complete lockdown on Jul 23, 25 and 29.
