India reports massive single-day spike with over 90,000 Covid-19 cases

New Delhi/IBNS: India reported the biggest single-day spike of 90,632 coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, taking its tally past the 41-lakh mark, the Union Health Ministry stated on Sunday.

The country recorded 1,065 deaths due to the contagion during this period taking the overall fatality toll to 70.626.

Its total tally touched  41,13,811 cases, the Union Health Ministry's bulletin confirmed.

At present, there are about 8,62, 320 cases of the virus while 31, 80, 865 people have recovered. The recovery rate stands at 77.3 per cent as of Sunday.

India is now just 9,000 cases behind Brazil, which has reported 41,23,000 confirmed cases and is the second-worst affected country globally after the US.

Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh are the five states which reported the highest number of cases in the last 24 hours.
