Jammu and Kashmir: 7 more people die due to COVID-19
Srinagar/UNI: The death toll due to COVID-19 has risen to 125 in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir with seven more people dying due to the virus since Friday evening.
The deceased include an 80-year-old man from Chattabal, two men from Baramulla, 55-year-old man from Budgam, 75-year-old man from Anantnag, 65-year-old man from Ganderbal and 65-year-old man from Kupwara.
With these deaths, 90 people have lost their lives due to infection in 30 days, and 111 people in 46 days in J&K, where the COVID-19 positive cases have crossed 8000-mark.
Official sources said an 80-year-old man, a resident of Baramulla, who was suffering from sepsis with Multiple Organ Dysfunction Syndrome (MODS), died at S K Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) on Friday. “The patient tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday,” they said.
They said a 75-year-old man, a resident of Dialgam in Anantnag, was admitted to S K Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) for Bilateral Community Acquired Pneumonia (CAP) on July 1. “The patient tested positive for COVID-19 following which he was shifted to Infectious Disease Block of the hospital,” they said.
They said the patient died at around 0700 hrs on Saturday morning.
They said a 65-year-old man, a resident of Alastang in Ganderbal, was admitted to SKIMS earlier this week for type 1 respiratory failure and dementia. “The patient, who tested positive for COVID-19, died at around 0900 hrs on Saturday,” they added.
“A 65-year-old man, a resident of Handwara in Kupwara, who was admitted to SKIMS late Friday night, died in the early hours on Saturday,” they said, adding the patient, who tested positive for COVID-19, was suffering from Pneumonia and hypertension,” they added.
Another COVID-19 patient from Magam in Budgam died at SHMS hospital late Friday evening. “The patient was suffering from bilateral pneumonia,” they said.
They said a 70-year-old man, a resident of Sopore in Baramulla, who was admitted on June 29 to Chest Disease hospital, died late on Friday evening. “The patient, who had tested positive for COVID-19, was suffering from bilateral pneumonia and other ailments,” they said.
They said that an 80-year-old man, a resident of Chattabal, who was referred to CD hospital from SMHS on June 29, died on Friday evening. “The patient had bilateral pneumonia and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease,” they said.
Ten districts of Jammu have reported 14 fatalities while 112 people have lost their lived due to COVID-19 in ten districts of Kashmir.
Ganderbal district recorded the first death due to COVID-19 on Saturday. With these fatalities, the death toll due to COVID-19 has risen to 21 in Baramulla, which stand at number two. Srinagar is the worst affected district in J&K in terms of causalities with 29 deaths. The number of death has swollen to 17 in Kulgam while 10 people have lost their lives to the disease in Anantnag. Shopian with 13 deaths is at number four. Nine people have lost their lives in Budgam, seven in Kupwara, four in Pulwama and one in Bandipora.
Sixteen people -- including three persons from Kulgam, two men from Baramulla, 50-year-old woman from Kupwara, two from Anantnag, 54-year-old man from Jammu, three people from Srinagar, 75-year-old man from Budgam, a 65-year-old man from Shopian, 80-year-old man from Srinagar and 70-year-old man from Baramulla -- died due to COVID-19 in the first five days of this week.
