Thiruvananthapuram/IBNS: The Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) has issued a red alert over possible swell waves along Kerala and south Tamil Nadu coast over the weekend, media reports said.

As per the alert, the coast is likely to experience strong waves from 2:30 pm on Saturday to 11:30 pm on Sunday.

People have been directed by the disaster management authority of the state to move away from beaches from 10 pm on Friday.

People have been asked to refrain from going to beaches or the sea.

Fishermen have been asked to move with their boats to safe places.

The last swell waves, which occurred on April 31, had caused damages to roads and fishing equipment.
