Maharashtra: Male leopard found dead in Nashik

Nashik, Jul 24 (UNI) A cadaver of a male leopard,who presumably died three-four days ago,was reportedly found near the Ondli village in the Igatpuri taluka of this district,informed the forest officials on Wednesday.

According to the Forest Department,the cadaver was discovered on Tuesday by a farmer,who thought it to be alive at the first sight.


The farmer alerted the villagers,who gathered at the spot and tried to shoo away the feline,said an official,and added that the villagers off late realised that the animal was lying dead.


Later,the villagers apprised the local police about the incident,following which the forest officials reached the spot and conducted 'panchnama',said reports.


The cadaver has been sent for postmortem,and further probe to ascertain the cause of the leopard's death is underway, added officials.
