Monsoon likely to hit Kerala on June 9

New Delhi, June 7 (IBNS) Monsoon is likely to set over Kerala, its first destination in India, on June 9 heralding its advent in the country.

The normal date of the onset of monsoon in Kerala is June 1. 

Media reports quoted India Meteorological Department as saying that monsoon is strengthening over the Arabian Sea and there have been favourable developments in the last 48 hours for "bountiful rains" in India. 

The meteorological department said the present severe weather conditions will continue in western and eastern parts of Rajasthan, western Haryana, some parts of Gujarat and western Madhya Pradesh for another 48 hours before it subsides by the eastern winds and the gathering moisture.
