Odisha reports 639 new covid positive cases in last 24 hours

Bhubaneswar/UNI: The Covid caseload in Odisha on Friday dipped a little in comparison to yesterday with 539 people tested positive for the Covid during the last 24 hours against 644.

Information and Public Relations department sources said the 539 new cases included 316 from Quarantine and 223 local contacts. It also included 77 children in the age group of 0 to 18 years.

Khurda district reported 254 covid positive cases, the highest in the state followed by Cuttack (48) and Balasore (23). Five districts reported nil cases.

The capital city Bhubaneswar reported 218 positive cases during the last
24 hours.

Meanwhile the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation today sealed the offices in the Judicial complex, Bhubaneswar for three days after 15 employees and some advocates reportedly tested positive for the virus.

The BMC planned to conduct a RTPCR test camp for the staff of the judicial complex and security personnel on September 27 next.

The death toll in the state due to covid rose to 8163 today with the report of six more deaths— three each from Cuttack and Sundergarh during the last 24 hours.

The state now has 5829 active cases and 1023133 total positive cases.
