Puducherry/UNI: The woman passenger from London who reached Puducherry last week tested negative and was discharged from the hospital on Monday.

It may be noted that a passenger from London to Chennai tested positive for Coronavirus Disease (COVID 19) in the Chennai airport last week and was hospitalized.

His blood sample was sent to the Pune Institute of Virology to find out whether he is infected by the new strain of Covid found in England. Following this, the Health authority in Tamil Nadu informed Puducherry health department that the passenger next to his seat in the plane was a Puducherrian.

Police and health officials traced that woman from Muthialpet the same night itself and admitted her to the Government medical college ,though she was not having any symptoms.

She was tested after five days and found negative and discharged today.

However, she and her family members will be under the observation of the health department for 14 days, sources here said.
