Stepathlon extends support to underprivileged

Bengaluru, Jan 12 (IBNS): Stepathlon, the pedometer based mass participation event, designed to create a global health revolution among corporate professionals, has completed three successful years.

In 2014, over 60,250 Stepathletes benefitted from this programme. Marking this milestone achievement and in line with its core theme of promoting good health, Stepathlon met with Dr. Devi Shetty and made a contribution to Narayana Hrudayalaya Charitable Trust to perform cardiac surgeries for the underprivileged.

Talking about the initiative, Ravi Krishnan, CEO, Stepathlon said, “Dr. Devi Shetty is a pioneer and it is our humble privilege to be able to contribute to the tremendously impactful work that he, and his team, undertake tirelessly on a daily basis. We, at Stepathlon, have a mission to combat disease, including heart disease that can arise from a sedentary lifestyle. In this regard we share a common goal with Dr. Shetty’s path breaking initiatives, as we help people live a healthier, happier life.”

Padma Bhushan awardee – Dr. Devi Shetty, Chairman, Narayana Health–a pioneer in the field of cardiac surgery and also known for his selfless work in providing healthcare to the deprived sections of society said, “Stepathlon is a great way for everyone to achieve good health and a healthy heart. However, even the underprivileged segment is exposed to the risks of heart disease. The effect of heart ailments among this segment gets amplified due to lower availability, accessibility, and affordability of effective and efficient treatment. Initiatives like these help reduce the financial burden of treatment and give new hope to the patient.”
