New Delhi, Mar 21 (IBNS): In a bid to create awareness  and link the demand-supply gap for blood units in India, micro-blogging site Twitter India has launched a social initiative known as #BloodMatters.

Blood Donors India (@BloodDonorsIN), a voluntary blood donation helpline on Twitter, has partnered with the initiative launched by Twitter.

"Proud to launch #BloodMatters with @BloodDonorsIn with the support of @MoHFW_INDIA and @JPNadda. We hope more people will be able to come forward to grow the blood donors community in India," Twitter India posted.

Indian Health Minister JP Nadda has congratulated the initiative.

"I am happy to see, @Twitter take up this cause to strengthen the overall health and well-being of the country with the #BloodMatters initiative. This will play a powerful role in mobilizing resources and strengthening the blood donation drive in India," Nadda tweeted.
