Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan confirms two new cases of coronavirus in India

New Delhi/IBNS: Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan on Monday confirmed that with two more cases emerging from New Delhi and Telangana, one from each region, the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in India now stands at five.

Speaking on the travel history of the two new cases, the Minister said while addressing a press conference: "Their travel history is from Italy and Dubai."

"Total positive cases in India till now is 5," he said.

Harsh Vardhan said: "As the situation develops, the travel restrictions may be further extended to other countries also."

The Indian government earlier released a statement and said both the patients are stable and being closely monitored.

Since its outbreak in China, several confirmed cases of coronavirus infected patients have been reported from different nations across the world.

Wuhan city of China remained the epicenter of the disease.

Chinese health authority said Monday it received reports of 202 new confirmed cases of novel coronavirus infection and 42 deaths on Sunday on the Chinese mainland, reported Xinhua news agency.

All the deaths were in Hubei Province, according to the National Health Commission.

Meanwhile, 141 new suspected cases were reported, said the commission.

 Also on Sunday, 2,837 people were discharged from hospital after recovery, while the number of severe cases decreased by 255 to 7,110.
