'Very Severe Cyclonic Storm' Yaas to cross Odisha-West Bengal coast tomorrow: IMD

Met officials on Tuesday said severe cyclonic Storm‘Yaas’ is going to move north-north-westwards, intensify further into a Very Severe Cyclonic Storm during next 12 hours.

"It would continue to move north-north-westwards, intensify further and reach Northwest Bay of Bengal near north Odisha and West Bengal coasts very close to Chandbali-Dhamra port by the early morning of Wednesday, the 26th May," read a government statement.

It is very likely to cross north Odisha-West Bengal coasts between Paradip and Sagar Island around Balasore, during noon of Wednesday as a 'Very Severe Cyclonic Storm', officials said.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a review meeting, through video conferencing today, with the Chief Ministers of Odisha, West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh and the Lt. Governor of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, to assess their preparedness and that of Central Ministries and agencies concerned, to deal with the situation arising out of Cyclone ‘Yaas’, which is forming in the Bay of Bengal.
