WHO, Bill Gates praise India for its 'decisive action' to combat COVID-19 pandemic

New Delhi: The World Health Organization and Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates have praised India for its leadership in scientific innovation and decisive action to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

India is gearing up to execute the world's largest vaccination drive in the upcoming days.

In its bid to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, the Drug Controller General of India recently approved the Oxford COVID-19 vaccine Covishield, which is manufactured by the Serum Institute, and indigenously developed Covaxin of Bharat Biotech.

However, they have been approved for emergency use only.

#India continues to take decisive action & demonstrate its resolve to end #COVID19 pandemic. As the 🌍’s largest vaccine producer it’s well placed to do so.

World Health Organization Head Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus tweeted: "#India continues to take decisive action & demonstrate its resolve to end #COVID19 pandemic.
