Andrew Yule hosts 'Yule Elocution Contest 2015'

Kolkata, Dec 17 (IBNS): Andrew Yule and Company Limited, a Government of India enterprise, hosted the eighth edition of Yule Elocution Contest in Kolkata.
As many as 160 school students took part in the programme, out of which  top six contestants from each language category- Bengali, English and Hindi- took the stage at the contest's final, which was held on Tuesday in Kolkata's GD Birla Sabhaghar.
 
West Bengal Education Minister Partha Chatterjee graced the occasion as the chief guest. 
 
"Once I was an employee of Andrew Yule. Like previous years, Andrew Yule has organized this event this year also. I'm feeling very nostalgic here. This is a very big platform for the students who have good elocutionary skills. Wish the organizers and participants very best for future," he said.
 
Eighteen finalists from several schools, including Jadavpur Vidyapith, Birla High School and Modern High School For Girls, spoke here on the topic "Dream is not that which you see while sleeping, it is something that does not let you sleep"- in a tribute to former Indian President late APJ Abdul Kalam.
 
Professors Amlan Dasgupta, Rajarshi Shukla and Urmi Roy Chowdhury and TV presenter Sutapa Banerjee joined the event as judges.
 
Taking about the initiative, Andrew Yule and Company Ltd.'s CMD Kallol Datta said, "The Yule Elocution Contest has gained a reputation for being a signature event for school-children, not only providing them a platform for elocution but also inculcating in them social and patriotic values."
 
Ahana Roy from Jadavpur Vidyapith, Rajat Bachchawat from Birla High School and Shakshi Bhuiya from Shaw Public School, Behala got the first positions in Bengali, Hindi and English sections respectively.
