Gurukul Awards: Recognising talent in the field of education

Kolkata, Sep 12 (IBNS): Lions Club of Kolkata, Mother Teresa Sarani (District 322B2), in association with FACES honoured students, teachers and private coaching institutes recently, with its Gurukul Awards, at a function held in Vidya Mandir, Kolkata.

The Gurukul Awards, conceived and conceptualized by Founder & Chairman, Ashissh Jhunjhunwalla, was launched in 2007.

Gurukul Awards honour the bond between the teacher (Guru) and Shishya (student) and are given to those who have managed to keep this sacred tradition alive.

Present at the recent Awards ceremony  were Imran Zaki -- President FACES, Reicha Sharma -- Mrs. India International, Sitaram Sharma -- Consul General of Belarus, and Ashissh Jhunjhunwalla, Founder & Chairman of Gurukul Awards.

Principals and educationists from reputed schools and colleges and other insititutes were also present.

Toppers of CLASS X and XII of all the educational Boards (ICSE/ CBSE/ WB) along with CAT Topper, IIT-JEE Topper, CA, CS and CLAT toppers were honoured at the functions.

Scholarships/ free text books were awarded to deserving students.

The award ceremony was complemented with various programmes such as debates, quizzes, one act plays, photography etc. where awards were given to best schools, best colleges, best students to name a few.

Ashissh Jhunjhunwalla, Founder & Chairman of Gurukul Awards said, “The motive for organising the Gurukul awards ceremony is to recognise excellence in education as well as to motivate students, teachers, principals and educational institutes to reach to greater heights.”
