Jammu and Kashmir: SRM Welkin School Sopore bags Micro Innovation Award- 2020

Srinagar: The National School Independent School Association (NISA) has awarded the SRM Welkin higher secondary school Sopore with the Micro Innovation Award-2020.

The award was presented to the school for its commendable contribution made in imparting quality education during the COVID19 lockdown and has been ranked among the top 20 schools.

The award ceremony was held on December 31 to felicitate the schools for their contribution in imparting education during the COVID19 lockdown.

Chairperson SRM Welkin School, Baseema Aijaz said it was a matter of honour for all associated with SRM Welkin family including teaching faculty, non-teaching staff, technical staff and management.

“Our school has been awarded by NISA for the commendable role it played in imparting quality education during tough times of COVID lockdown. It all started with Zoom classes and Whats app groups for separate classes and sections,” she said.

She said the school also started uploading video lectures and also did upload laboratory demonstrations for the students as well.

“However it was felt that the activities like morning assembly and counselling that was possible only in real classrooms, was lacking in this virtual mode. So the institution arranged morning assemblies via zoom in which students were encountered to participate in various activities like Naat, Qirat as well as video messages with brief speeches,” she said.

She said the new and innovative ideas were materialised, one among which was a virtual counselling group.

“This group was assigned to Mudassir Mirchal to inculcate in students the moral values along with training them for quiz competitions and creative things. This group is still active and empathises interactive sessions, guest interactions and counselling,” she said.
