Kolkata college hosts national workshop on solid waste management

Kolkata, Mar 19 (IBNS): National Workshop on Solid Waste Management was organized on Thursday by Department of Chemical Engineering , Heritage Institute of Technology Kolkata under TEQIP-II.
The workshop will continue till Friday. 
 
It was inaugurated by Dr. R.N.Singh, Sr. INSA Scientist & CSIR Emeritus Professor as the Guest of Honour and Dr. Nilangshu Bhushan Basu, Principal Chief Engineer, KMC, as the Guest of Honour in the presence of Vikram Swarup, Chairman, Paharpur Cooling Towers Ltd and Vice-Chairman, Heritage Institute and Kalyan Bharti Trust.

The workshop was also participated by Dr. Arunkanti Biswas, MOEF Expert in WBPCB, Dr. Kalyan Rudra, Chairman, WBPCB, Prof. Bhabesh Bhattacharya, Director, BIET, Professor Arunava Majumdar, Emeritus Professor, JU, Dr. Somnath Narayan, SE, WBPCB , Dr. Rita Saha, Central Pollution Control Board and Mr. S.S. Deb, Secretary, DISHA. 
 
In the inaugural session  Pinaki Bhattacharya, Head of the Department, Chemical Engineering, Heritage Institute spoke about the various ways of solid waste management. 
 
Dr. N.B.Basu, Principal Chief Engineer, KMC, gave a brief presentation of the various reasons due to which pollution is happening in our city and how solid waste management can be an aid to the problem. Dr. R.N.Singh  gave a brief description of Software Modelling on the topic.

The Workshop was also attended by Prof. B.B.Paira, Advisor, Kalyan Bharti Trust, Shri Probir Roy, Executive Director, Kalyan Bharti Trust,  Prof. B.R. Saha, Professor, Department of Chemical Engineering, Heritage Institute and Shri Pradip Agarwal, CEO, Kalyan Bharti Trust. It was coordinated by Swami (Prof.) Vedajnananda, Professor, Chemical Engineering Department, Heritage Institute.
