Kolkata: Rabindra Bharati Sanskriti Utsav 2018 begins, Jorasanko Thakurbari light and sound show to resume

Kolkata, Jan 17, (IBNS): The four-day Rabindra Bharati Sanskriti Utsav 2018 organised by West Bengal's Rabindra Bharati University begins on Wednesday and will continue until  Jan 20, 2018.

The Utsav will be inaugurated at the University’s Jorasanko Thakurbari Campus by the state Education Minister Dr. Partha Chatterjee, with the resumption of the University’s light and sound show on the Jorasanko Thakurbari.

Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sabyasachi Basu Ray Chaudhury will preside over the inaugural function.

Thereafter, Rabindra Sangeet recitals will be presented by Swagatalakshmi Dasgupta at 7.15pm and Rezwana Chowdhury Bonnya at 8.15pm.

The programmes are being held on various days at the University's Jorasanko Thakurbari Campus and the Emerald Bower Campus (BT Road campus).

On  January 18, at the University’s Emerald Bower Campus at 56 A, B. T. Road, Pt. Tejendra Narayan Majumdar will present a Sarod recital at 5.30pm, with Pt. Swapan Chowdhury on the Tabla, followed by a Hindustani classical vocal recital by Ustad Rashid Khan at 7pm.

On January 19, there will be a Sanskritik Adda on “ Coffee Houser Shei Adda Ta Aaj Aar Nei” at the KabiJanani Sarada Kaksha at 1.30pm, to be moderated by Bibhas Chakraborty, with Sanjib Chattopadhyay, Nrisingha Prasad Bhaduri, Shankarlal Bhattacharya and Bijaylakshmi Burman as participants.

Thereafter, Arjun Khyapa and Mansoor Fakir will present  Bengali folk songs at 4pm and 4.45 pm respectively, followed by Nupurchhanda Ghosh’s presentation of songs of Dwijendralal Roy, Atulprasad Sen and Rajanikanta Sen at 6pm, and Sraboni Sen and Adity Mohsin’s Rabindra Sangeet recitals at 7pm and 8pm, respectively.

The our-day Utsav will conclude on January 20, at the University’s Jorasanko Thakubari Campus with Nazrulgeeti presented by Raghav Chattopadhyay at 5.30pm, a Tabla recital of Pt. Tanmoy Bose at 6.30pm and Ustad Rafique Khan’s sitar recital with Pt. Parimal Chakraborty on tabla  at 7.30pm.

The Rabindra Bharati Sanskriti Utsav 2018 will be anchored by Koushik Sen in Bengali, and by Madhumanti Maitra in English.
