Kolkata's Chemould Art Gallery hosts Art Adda

Kolkata, Aug 4 (IBNS)5: Kolkata's Chemould Art Gallery, in association with Smita Art, hosted Art Adda, an informal discussion on 'The Future of Installation Art' as a part of Prayas 2015, a unique art initiative aimed at providing a platform to upcoming and senior contemporary artists of West Bengal to interact closely and share their views and ideas during a 60-day period.

The 'adda' opened up animated discussions on installation art and its future, with the participants presenting their views thus making the event a meaningful platform for exchange of ideas.

The participants in the Art Adda included artists like Adip Dutta, Chhatrapati Dutta, Bhabotosh Sutar, Nobina Gupta, Samindranath Majumdar and Sushanta Paul. Chhatrapati Dutta, as the moderator, held the discussions together with his insightful comments.

The discussions veered around Durga Puja being considered as a platform for installation art, the sustainability of installation art and its preservation.

Prayas was inaugurated on June 29, 2015 at the Satyajit Ray Auditorium, ICCR, Kolkata by artist Jogen Chowdhury.

The Guests of Honour at the inauguration were Ranjan Bandyopadhyay, eminent novelist and journalist, Rabin Mondal, eminent painter, Ramananda Bandyopadhyay, eminent painter, Niranjan Pradhan, eminent sculptor and Mrinal Ghosh, eminent art critic.
