Jammu and Kashmir's Smoked fish preparation 'Phari' is today popular not only in the UT but also in several nations in the world.

Phari is considered as one of the most delicious winter delicacies in Jammu and Kashmir.

As per the experts, this reddish-brown Smoked Fish provides great resistance to cold-related diseases, reports ANI.

One of the Agricultural University of Kashmir professors, who holds Master’s in Fisheries, Jahan Zeb told the Indian news agency that consuming smoked fish has numerous benefits including protection against harmful microorganisms due to the antiseptic properties of the smoke.

The chemical components in the fish inhibit the growth of fungi and bacteria and also inhibit viral activity, he said.

The fish is also sold in markets in Jammu and Kashmir during winter season.
