Story launches 'Share A Story' initiative for underprivileged children in Kolkata

The week-long initiative was announced by Tollywood (Bengali film industry) actor Prosenjit Chatterjee and child actor Arya Dasgupta, the lead actors of the Bengali movie ‘Force’.

Veteran Actor and theater personality Jayant Kriplani also attended the function.

“There are a lot of people and children out there with lots of wishes, one of them might be reading books but because they can’t afford it, it a distant thought for them. We are privileged to own and inherit books from our parents and grandparents also. So, we must feel it to be our responsibility to pass on the knowledge to the people worthy of it.,” says Prosenjit. He adds “Sometimes we are really connected to a book and donating that book isn't about detaching us from it, rather it’s sharing of knowledge.”

‘Share A Story’ initiative aims to encourage children and grown-ups of Kolkata to donate books for the underprivileged and deprived children of the city of Kolkata.

The initiative also aims to provide an opportunity of reading books to children who may not have the privilege of books and reading materials in proper manner.

‘Share A Story’ will conclude on Nov 14, 2014, on Children’s day, with the distribution of books to city based NGOs.

“Whenever I used to visit Kolkata, I used to make sure that I spend some time going through the second hand book stores in College Street. I own more than four thousand books and I love the very feel of the smell of the pages. It’s a wonderful idea to share this piece of joy with the underprivileged kids,” said Jayant Kulkarni.
