Kolkata, Sept 28 (IBNS): To light up Durga Puja for the less fortunate children of the society, Max Fashion came forward and made a ‘Wall of Kindness’.

The 1800 feet ‘Wall of Kindness’ located near Samaj Sebi Durga Puja Pandal on Lake Road had over 5000 clothes donated by Max Fashion for children from different NGOs .The wall was unveiled by the much-anticipated Durga Puja film Gumnaami team - superstar Prosenjit Chatterjee, upcoming actor Anirban Bhattacharya and director Srijit Mukherji.

The film Gumnaami, which is based on the Mukherjee Commission Hearings, takes us through the various theories on the death and disappearance of one of the greatest freedom fighters of British India – Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.

Through this initiative many citizens also donated new clothes for these children at different Max Fashion stores in the city. To help the cause and celebrate the day of Mahalaya, renowned NGOs like, Hope Foundation, Voice of world, Rotary Club and others brought 5000+ children to the venue. To support the initiative much acclaimed actress Rituparna Sengupta also graced the occasion.

The City of Joy saw bright smiles on the day of Mahalaya, which begins the festivities for Kolkata’s most iconic and looked forward, Durga Pujo. Elated after receiving new clothes from celebrities like Prosenjit Chatterjee, Anirban Bhattacharya and Srijit Mukherji, Durga Puja definitely started with much fun and glory for these children as the kids also got to celebrate the pre puja moments with the cast of the most awaited film – Mitin Mashi - Vinay Pathak, Koel Mullick, Arindam Sil, Bikram Ghosh, Sarbajit, June Malliah, Koel Das and Riya Banik.

Present at the occasion, Prosenjit Chatterjee expressed, “It is so overwhelming to be a part of such a beautiful initiative; and with these kids having such cheerful faces I can now certainly say that the beginning of Devi-Paksha this year couldn’t have been better for me. For us Bengalis, Durga Puja is the biggest festival for which we wait throughout the year, hence, doing a film like Gumnaami is equally exciting. Gumnaami will be releasing on 2nd October, nationally.”

Talking about the initiative, Rajib Mukherjee, AVP Operations East & Central India, Max Fashion said, “Wall of Kindness is a very special initiative for us and this year with the participation of many of our customers it became even more heart-warming. Today the smiles on these less fortunate kids made the entire environment lively and fun filled.”

Eminent theatre and movie personality Vinay Pathak, who also came to be a part of the initiative, said, “Throughout the country we have seen how Bengalis are excited about this mega festival called Durga Puja. Needless to say, that in Kolkata, we find the truest spirit of it. But without spending time with these kids and making their Pujo special, my Durga Puja would have remained incomplete.”
