Techno India University confers honorary D.Litt to economist Bibek Debroy and writer Buddhadeb Guha

Kolkata, July 16 (IBNS): West Bengal Governor, Keshari Nath Tripathi, appreciated the various initiatives taken by the Techno India University (TIU) to equip their students in the best possible way and make them employment ready.

Governor Tripathi was addressing the gathering as the chief guest of the Convocation 2019 of Techno India University.

Also present at the august event were Swami Biswatmananda, General Secretary of Bharat Sevashram Sangha; Arundhati Bhattacharya, former Chairman of the State Bank of India, and others.  

TIU conferred D.Litt (Honoris Causa) to economist Padma Shree Bibek Debroy and eminent  writer Buddhadeb Guha in recognition of the great contribution they made to their respective fields.

Dr. Gautom Sengupta, Vice Chancellor, TIU, shared the achievements of the students and the awards won under various categories, both in academics, research as well as industry-collaborated projects.

Bachelors, Masters and PhD degrees were awarded to 1,703 students across disciplines.

Prof. M. Roy Chowdhury, Co-Chancellor, spoke about the need of the hour, identifying the challenges ahead and their mitigation plan where TIU and Techno India Group (TIG) as a whole can contribute for the cause of the nation.
